This page is about timeswitches .The people who is in charge for streetlighting they do not use them any more.In some places there is a lot left in streetlighting. Alot of the streetlights now uses PHOTOCELLS.
The timeswitches for streetlighting they got SOLAR DIALS in them and different LATITUDE and LONGITUDE settings .The SOLAR DIALS change the on /off times about a 1 min per day to follow the sunset and the sunrise of the sun.A lot of these had a reserve power in them (spring).In the later ones they got batteries in them.
LATITUDE and LONGITUDE settings They have to be correct and you need to get a timeswitch with the correct setting for that area . ENGLAND is divided up in to some areas and you can buy timeswitches which covers your area of the country.
You can buy them in a analog or digital types.
These come in these types
ALL NIGHT , PART NIGHT , PART NIGHT ( EARLY MORNING ON).
ALL NIGHT.
These are on all night.
PART NIGHT.
These turn off at a certain time (eg 12midnight)
PART NIGHT .( EARLY MORNING ON)
These turn off at a certain time (eg 12midnight) and switch on again in the early morning and turn off in the morning when its gets light. In a certain part of the year during the early morning the timeswitch dont turn on the lantern because it is not dark any more.
In some parts of this country the timeswitches used to control group of lights (varies from 3 to 40 lights)and when they change the lanterns from gls to SOX ,etc,they put a PHOTOCELL on each new lantern .
PHOTOCELLS dont need setting up and can smaller than timeswitches .
