PHOTOCELLS

Photocell is a light sensitive switch which switch on a light night when its gets dark and switch off when its gets light .  You can get them 1 part type  ( NEMA Socket type ) , 2 part type ( detector is separate from the control unit ) and 1 and 2 parts  miniature type .You can get them as THERMAL ,THERMAL/ELECTRONIC and ELECTRONIC . You can get these in all night type or part night type. You can get some which switch off at midnight and turn on again at 5am .

You can get them with a 70 LUX setting to switch on and 140 LUX to switch off.


Type of photocells

 THERMAL

This works on heat ( got a Bimetal strip switch) .

THERMAL/ELECTRONIC

Same as Thermal with some Electronics to improve the control the Bimetal strip switch .

ELECTRONIC

All  Electronics with no moving parts ,it has Zero Drift and it use less power than the Thermal and  Thermal/ Electronic types . These can come with relays in them . 


Location of PHOTOCELLS

These can be put on the top of lanterns ,posts,signs,Traffic lights,and walls ,Etc.

These can control a single or a group of lights by contactors in control panels on the side of a motorway or a road and next to the control panel is a post with 1 or 3 photocells on the top of it.
