This is along M40 going towards London and this was taken in Year Aug 2012.This is at the end of the M40 and this joins the A40 which goes to London .

The original dark grey posts along the centre of the motorway with twin arm brackets are12M metal posts with side entry PHILIPS MA 60 lanterns ( ( 180W SOX bulb , integral gear , Nema socket 1part photocell ) .In the 90s these has been changed to group switched and  these are controlled by photocells which are on top of 5M posts which is next to control boxes and these are on the side of the motorway.

Around  1983-4 ,these PHILIPS MA 60 lanterns replaced the old side entry PHILIPS SRP 254 lanterns ( 180W SOX bulbs , integral gear ,Nema socket 1 part photocells) that were on these posts

On the slip roads are original 10M metal posts with PHILIPS MA50 lanterns ( 135W SOX bulb , less gear , SELC 841 Nema socket photocells ) .  The old lanterns before these were GEC Z9555 lanterns ( 135W SOX bulb , less gear , Nema socket photocells ) .

All these lights were installed in the 80s when the M4 was joined to the M25 motorway .

URBIS ZX4 lanterns has got 2 SON-T bulbs in them .
