THORN BETA 79


The THORN BETA 79  was brought out in 1975 for 80-125W MBF bulbs.After a time they brought out a version for SON bulbs .First time I seen a SON version was in DEVON around 1977.


 

 This is a early version of the THORN BETA 79 lantern. This is the metal version and THORN has stop making this in metal in the 90s .THORN in the 90s changed it to a Plastic lantern. The bulb is a SON-E bulb and it has got a miniature 1 part photocell .

 This is a later version of the THORN BETA 79 lantern. This is the metal version and it has been painted white and THORN has stop making this in metal in the 90s .THORN in the 90s changed it to a Plastic lantern. The bulb is a SON-T bulb and it has got a SELC 841 Nema Socket photocell .  This is Poole in Dorset and this photo was taken in July 2010 .

 

 

 

 

 


 

 This is the Plastic version . THORN dont do this type with this type of Bowl anymore. The bulb is a SON-T bulb and it has got a Nema Socket photocell . This is Poole in Dorset and this photo was taken in Aug 2004 .
