FILMS WITH OLD STREETLIGHTS
This page is for films with old Streetlights in them . Some times you can see old Streetlights in old films . Here is a little list of them .
Some times pop groups released singles which has got streetlife in their title.When I first heard the single I thought they were singing Streetlight and I found out they were singing streetlife .The group was called the CRUSADERS and this was out in the Autumn of 1979.
DADS ARMY ( FILM )
This was filmed in CHALFONT ST GILES , BUCKS in 1966. You can see the old streetlights along the roads.
A new film out in 2015.
This was film in LONDON and you can see the streetlights along the roads.
Some of this was filmed in near IVER HEATH , BRIGHTON and LONDON ( HAMMERSMITH ) and you can see the old streetlights there and this was made in 1979. This film was set in the 60s .
CARRY ON AT YOUR CONVENIENCE
This was filmed in IVER HEATH , BUCKS ,SLOUGH , BERKS ,UXBRIDGE (LONDON) and BRIGHTON .
In one scene they were along UXBRIDGE HIGH STREET and you can see old metal posts with THORN ALPHA 3 lanterns .
In one scene they were on a coach going to BRIGHTON and you can see the old lights along the bypass ( A142 ).The road is the one which goes from the IVER HEATH , BUCKS to SLOUGH , BERKS . The BUCKS area the lights were 10m metal posts with THORN ALPHA 5 lanterns .The bulbs with SLI/H bulbs , p42 photocells and the posts painted grey . In the BERKS area the are 10M metal posts they had GEC Z9554M lanterns with 135W SOX bulbs in them , p42 photocells and the posts were painted white and blue.The base of the posts was painted blue.
In the BERKS area ,in the year 1984-5 the lanterns been changed to THORN ALPHA 8 lanterns (metal with part painted ) , SON-T bulbs, Nema socket photocells and the posts been painted with the new colour blue paint instead of blue and white. In SLOUGH they have started to paint all the lamp posts to black in 2006-7.
In the BUCKS area ,in the year 1987-8 the lanterns been changed to PHILIPS MA60 less gear lanterns ,180w SOX bulbs with Nema socket photocells . In the summer 2000 these lights and posts have been changed with new ones. The council put in new 10M metal posts with URBIS ZX3 lanterns , white top , deep bowl , SON-T bulbs , Nema socket photocells and the posts were painted grey.
CARRY ON DOCTOR
This was made in 1958.
Some scenes have been filmed in MAIDENHEAD,BERKSHIRE . They have used the outside of the MAIDENHEAD town hall as the hospital.
You can see the 5m metal posts with the GEC Z8451 Fluorescent lanterns and 5M concrete posts with side entry Fluorescent lanterns .These lanterns have been replaced now . The council put in new 8M metal posts with the new design ( plastic ) of THORN ALPHA 4 lanterns in around 1986-7 . The Bulbs are SON-T bulbs with RTE P42 photocells and the posts were painted blue . Spring 2002 , the COUNCIL painted the posts black with new type of stick on numbers and the COUNCIL used to paint them numbers onto the posts.
This was made in WINDSOR , BERKSHIRE in the 60s and you can see streetlights along the roads .
BRANNIGAN
This film star John Wayne and it was filmed in London ,England.Some of it was filmed next to BATTLE SEA PARK ( near the RIVER THAMES ).
The lights were 8M concrete posts with GEC Z9554M lanterns , 135W SOX bulbs and 2 part photocells . These have been changed in the late 80s to 10M metal posts with URBIS ZX3 lanterns , black top,deep bowl , SON-T bulbs , Nema socket photocells and the posts were painted light green . In the early 2000s these posts have been painted black.
THE MAN WHO HAUNTED HIMSELF
This film stared Roger Moore .
You can see some lights in london and on one scene it was on the fly over of the A4.The lanterns were GEC 8426 lanterns and the posts painted white . In the late 70s these have been changed to PHILIPS MA50 less gear lanterns,135W SOX bulbs and Nema socket photocells .
In the late 90s these have been changed to THORN RIVIERA 2 lanterns with SON-T bulbs , Nema socket photocells and the posts painted black.
NOTTING HILL
This was filmed in the NOTTING HILL area of LONDON . You can see the current street lights which they have got there . The street lights are metal 5M heritage posts with post top CU PHOSCO P109 GEORGIAN lanterns . These lanterns have got SON bulbs with miniature photocells .In these lanterns they got glass refractors in them.
All the old lights were concrete posts with side entry GEC Fluorescent lanterns .The council used them for the main roads ( 8M ) GEC type and side roads ( 5M ) . Around 78-79 the council put in Nema socket photocells on the main road lanterns.
In the 80s most of the main road ones been changed to 10M metal posts with THORN ALPHA 8 lanterns ,SON-T bulbs , Nema socket photocells and the posts were painted grey . With the side roads the council just replace the lanterns to post top CU PHOSCO P355 CHELSEA lanterns ,SON bulbs and 2 part photocells .
In the 90s the council changed the side roads streetlights to metal 5M DW WINDSOR HERITAGE posts with CU PHOSCO P109 GEORGIAN lanterns,SON bulbs , miniature photocells and the posts are painted black . All the main roads streetlights have been painted black ,the council is now using PHILIPS SGS203,SGS204 lanterns which are painted black and the Nema socket photocells are coloured black with the top of them clear . The council has used one colour for the street light .In OXFORDSHIRE the country council done the same for their street lights and they used light green colour.
In the early 2000s ,most of the CU PHOSCO P109 GEORGIAN lanterns have been changed to the new design CU PHOSCO P109 GEORGIAN lanterns ( integral gear , MH bulbs , new type of reflectors , miniature photocells ) .

This was filmed in WINDSOR , BERKSHIRE . You can see the old street lights there.You can see some 5M metal posts with GEC Z9532 ( NIGHTWATCH ) metal type lanterns.
EAST IS EAST ( 1990S )
This was filmed in SALFORD in the 1990s and which was this was set in the 70s and you can see some modern lanterns . You can see some side entry WRTL 2600 lanterns ?.
