 1993

Most of the GROUP A ( main roads ) lights

 In the town centre most of the lights were GEC Z8536 lanterns ( integral gear, semi-cut off bowls ,SON bulbs , 2 part RT P42 photocells ) and this lantern is also known as a SIEMENS MRL5A lantern and most of these mounted on buildings at 8M. All these lanterns were along BUTTER MARKET , CORNHILL and ABBEYGATE .

Along BUTTER MARKET there is a 8M metal heritage post (modern post with cast iron bits on it ) with 2 side entry GEC Z8536 lanterns ( integral gear, semi-cut off bowls , SON bulbs , 2 part RT P42 photocells ) , another 8M metal post with 2 globe lanterns.

The lights were along ANGEL HILL were 5M metal posts with post top CU PHOSCO P109 lanterns ( SON bulbs , glass refractors , less gear ) .

 2002

When I visited BURY ST EDMUNDS in 2002 , I noticed some new lanterns in the Town centre .

  Along BUTTER MARKET there is some new URBIS DZ15 lanterns ( SON-T bulbs ) , on a 8M metal has now got four heritage post top lanterns and I think these are made by WATERS LIGHTING. There are some of these in BATH with a label with WATERS LIGHTING on the lantern.

Along ANGEL HILL has now got URBIS 8M metal heritage posts (modern post with cast iron bits on it ) with double arm brackets . The lanterns are top entry URBIS KARL JOHAN lanterns ( SON-T bulbs , miniature 1 part photocells ) .

At the junction of ANGEL HILL , CHURCHGATE STREET , CROWN STREET has got some post top heritage URBIS REGENT lanterns ( SON-T bulbs , refractors , miniature 1 part photocells ) and these are mounted on 5M metal posts and on wall brackets . The old lanterns used to be CU PHOSCO P109 lanterns .

CHURCHGATE STREET has got 5M metal posts with post top CU PHOSCO P109 lanterns ( SON bulbs , glass refractors , less gear ) .

HATTER STREET has got 6M metal posts with side entry brackets with post top CU PHOSCO P111 lanterns ( integral gear , 70W SON-T bulbs , road lighting reflectors , miniature 1 part photocells ) . The miniature 1 part photocells are fitted on the bottom of the lanterns .

HIGH BAXTER STREET has got some 5M metal posts with side entry ELECO ( DAVIS ) GR918 lanterns ( less gear ) .

PROSPECT ROW has got a old 5M post with a old sox lantern on it.

PROSPECT ROW car park has got 10M metal posts with side entry brackets . The lanterns are URBIS ZX3 lanterns ( SON-T BULBS , deep bowls ? , black canopies , Nema socket photocells ) and the path from this car park to ST ANDREWS STREET on 5M metal posts has got side entry URBIS ZX1 lanterns ( SON-T bulbs , deep bowls , black canopies , miniature 1 part photocells )

ST ANDREWS STREET has got old metal posts with brackets with overstay supports on them . The lanterns are side entry big lanterns (90W SOX bulbs ) .

 This is along the BUTTER MARKET and this was taken in Year 2002.

This is a close up of a GEC Z8536 lantern ( integral gear, semi-cut off bowls ,SON bulbs , 2 part RT P42 photocell) and this lantern is also known as a SIEMENS MRL5A lantern .

This junction has got new lanterns and these are URBIS REGENT lanterns ( SON-T bulbs , refractors , miniature 1 part photocells ) .


 

 

 

 

 

  This is along the ANGEL HILL and this was taken in Year 2002.

  This is along the HATTER STREET and this was taken in Year 2002.

HATTER STREET has got 6M metal posts with side entry brackets with post top CU PHOSCO P111 lanterns ( integral gear , 70W SON-T bulbs , road lighting reflectors , miniature 1 part photocells ) . The miniature 1 part photocells are fitted on the bottom of the lanterns .


 

 This is along the  CORNHILL and this was taken in Year 2002.

Along CORNHILL you can see the GEC Z8536 lanterns ( integral gear, semi-cut off bowls ,SON bulbs , 2 part RT P42 photocell) on the walls at 8M and you can also see the URBIS REGENT lanterns ( SON-T bulbs , refractors , miniature 1 part photocells ) on the walls at 5M .

You can see the CHRISTMAS LIGHTS along CORNHILL as well .

ST ANDREWS STREET has got old metal posts with brackets with overstay supports on them . The lanterns are side entry lanterns ( 90W SOX bulbs ) . These lanterns could be made by GEC.
