CITY OF LONDON , LONDON

Most of the GROUP A ( main roads ) streetlights were 8M - 10M metal posts with post top GEC ZD10517 lanterns ( 3 SON-E bulbs ,less gear ) and these metal posts were painted blue . There also lot of side entry GEC 8426 lanterns ( SON-E bulbs , integral gear ) on GEC ZD2403 wall brackets on the buildings .

Most of the GROUP B ( side roads ) streetlights were wall mounted at 5M on walls and the lanterns were SIEMENS CITY OF LONDON lanterns and they had three 5FT 80W fluorescent tubes in them.

Most of these lanterns are on a group switching system and there is no photocells on lanterns.

Allot of the GEC 8426 lanterns ( SON-E bulbs , integral gear ) were replaced with GEC Z8611 lanterns ( SON-T bulbs , integral gear ) ) and allot of the SIEMENS CITY OF LONDON lanterns were replaced with SON-T lanterns.

I found out the council use the Cyclo Systems International switching system to control the Street Lights and Sign Posts . In each post there is a Cyclo Systems control box ( powerline control system ) and the council send the signal along the mains cable to tell the unit to switch on or off .

The lantern is a SIEMENS CITY OF LONDON lantern ( three 5FT 80W fluorescent tubes , integral gear ) .

This lantern is not here anymore.

There is a carpark which is next to SMITHFIELD MARKET and there is about 4 of these left in 2009.

The street lights are 8M metal posts with post top WRTL SISTELLA lanterns ( 3 150W SON-T bulbs , integral gear ) . The old lanterns were post top GEC lanterns ( 3 250W SON-T bulbs ) .
