POOLE , DORSET

Most of the posts are made out of concrete . These made by STANTON AND STAVELEY and CONCRETE UTILITIES (CU PHOSCO ) . On the main roads the most of the lanterns are side entry GEC Z8430CM lanterns with MBF bulbs . There are some GEC Z8526 lanterns ( less gear , semi cut off bowls , 2 part photocells) and some THORN ALPHA 3 lanterns ( less gear , semi cut of bowls , 2 part photocells ).

Along the THE QUAY ( HARBOUR ) there were some 10M metal posts with top entry GEC Clearmain Z8403 lanterns . In the late 80s , these were changed to new HIGH MAST lighting . The council did not replaced all the lights along this road and there were some CONCRETE UTILITIES (CU PHOSCO ) octagonal 10M concrete posts with THORN ALPHA 3 lanterns ( less gear , flat glass bowls , 2 part photocells) left along this road . In 2000 these were replaced with new 10M metal posts with post top THORN ALPHA 2000 lanterns ( SON-T bulbs , integral gear , flat glass bowls Nema socket photocells) .

On the side roads most of the lanterns are side entry GEC Z8896 lanterns ( less gear ) with 5M STANTON AND STAVELEY concrete posts.

Along BANKS ROAD , SHORE ROAD ( SANDBANKS ) The posts are 8M metal posts and all the lanterns been changed to side entry THORN ALPHA 8 lanterns ( SON-T bulbs , integral gear ,plastic and metal lanterns , Nema socket photocells) from post top GEC ZD10807 lanterns and the posts painted white.

In the 80s the lights along the HIGH STREET were changed from THORN ALPHA 3 lanterns ( SON bulbs , less gear , semi cut of bowls , 2 part photocells ) to HOLOPHANE MODULE 600 lanterns ( SON-T bulbs ) . There is a lot of new 5M cast iron posts and lanterns were installed as well with SON-T bulbs.

All the original 5M cast iron posts and lanterns that were near the PARADISE STREET ( HIGH STREET) were painted black from the old dark and light blue colour.

A lot of the GEC Z8430CM lanterns have been changed in the early 90s and these were changed to THORN ALPHA 8 lanterns ( SON-T bulbs , integral gear ,plastic lanterns , Nema socket photocells)

. With these a lot of the concrete brackets have been changed as well to new metal brackets.

The Council has stop using concrete posts and is now using metal posts with side arm brackets with THORN ALPHA 8 lanterns ( SON-T bulbs , integral gear ,plastic lanterns , Nema socket photocells)

Alot of the side lights were changed to THORN BETA 79 lanterns with ( SON-T bulbs , integral gear ,plastic lanterns , Nema socket photocells) .

The council is now using THORN ALPHA 2000 lanterns ( SON-T bulbs , integral gear , flat glass bowls , curved glass bowls , Nema socket photocells) and THORN RIVIERA 1 lanterns ( SON-T bulbs , integral gear , flat glass bowls , Nema socket photocells ) and these lanterns they can be side entry or post top mounted . The council most of the time mount these as post top.

The rest of the lights along the THE QUAY ( HARBOUR ) been changed to 10M metal posts with post top THORN ALPHA 2000 lanterns ( SON-T bulbs ,integral gear , flat glass bowls , Nema socket photocells ) . The old lights were 10M CONCRETE UTILITIES (CU PHOSO ) concrete posts with THORN ALPHA 3 lantern ( flat glass , SON-T- bilbs , less gear ).

The council has started using the THORN RIGA lanterns ( SON-T bulbs , integral gear , Nema socket photocells ) and these lanterns they can be side entry or post top mounted. The council most of the time mount these as post top.

The council has started using the HOLOPHANE SYRACUSE MEDIUM lanterns ( SON-T bulbs , integral gear , Nema socket photocells ) and they mount these post top .

I notice there is now 2 new post top Led heritage lanterns along the HIGH STREET. 1 of them is a D.W.WINDSOR WINDSOR lantern ( Led bulbs , miniature 1 part photocell ) and the other one I don't know who made it . This has got a flood light Led bulb in it .

I been looking around Poole in Dorset by street view ( July 2016 ) and now most of the street lights are now Led. The main road lanterns are Urbis Ampera lanterns and the side road lanterns are Holophane V-Max lanterns. On these have got the new type Telensa Telecell nodes and these look like normal photocells.

All the old lanterns were changed to post top WATERS LIGHTING WINDSOR (VIB) lanterns with ( SON-T bulbs , integral gear , miniature 1 part photocells) and the posts painted black .

2000-2001 - All these posts were changed with new 10M BRITISH STEEL metal posts with post top THORN ALPHA 2000 lanterns ( integral gear , flat glass bowls , Nema socket photocells ) .

Near to this post is a new cast iron post with a post top post top WATERS LIGHTING WINDSOR (V1B/GO) lantern ( SON-T bulb ,integral gear , miniature 1 part photocell ) .

The old post before this one was a STANTON AND STAVELEY No 10F concrete post with a THORN BETA 79 lantern ( SON-T bulbs, integral gear , Nema socket photocells , plastic lanterns) .

The old lantern before the THORN BETA 79 lantern , was a side entry GEC Z8896 lantern ( less gear ,80W MBF bulb , timeswitch ) and this was changed in 1990 - 1997 .
