This page is about some STREETLIGHTING in MORTEHOE in DEVON .

1976

 Most of the lights were GEC top entry Fluorescent lanterns , GEC side entry Fluorescent lanterns , 2 side entry GEC Z8691 ( 80W MBF bulb , integral gear) , top entry GEC Z5580 ( less gear , GLS BULB ) and a top entry GEC Z5592 ( less gear , GLS bulb ) .

Most of these lights were on telegraph posts and these lights turn off about 11-12 midnight and all the lights are mounted at 5M high .

 1977

Most of the lights were changed to side entry THORN BETA 79 lanterns ( 70W SON-E bulb , integral gear ) except for the 2 side entry GEC Z8691 ( 80W MBF bulb , integral gear ) .

1980S

The council is started using the SIMPLEX DIADEM MAJOR lanterns ( 70W SON bulb , integral gear ) .

 1990S

The council is started using the side entry WRTL ( DAVIS ) GR70 lanterns ( 70W SON-T bulb , Nema socket blanking photocell ) with blanking photocells which just link out the Nema sockets and in these photocells is nothing and these are black in colour .

The council is started using the post top CU PHOSCO P111 lanterns ( integral gear , 70W SON-E bulb , HIGH BEAM glass refractor and a miniature 1 part photocell ) . The miniature 1 part photocells are fitted on the bottom of the lanterns .

The council is started using the side entry URBIS ZX1 lantern ( integral gear , refractor bowl , white tops , 70W SON-T bulb , Nema socket blanking photocell ) with blanking photocells they just link out the Nema sockets and in these photocells is just some wire links and these photocells are black in colour .

 

 


 

 

 This is along THE ESPLANADE  and this was taken in Year Sept 1976.

Top entry GEC Z8243 ( TWO FORTY ) lantern ( 2 2ft 40W Fluorescent tubes ) on a telegraph post. This lantern is not here any more and in 1977 it was replaced with a side entry THORN BETA 79 lantern ( 70W SON-E bulb , integral gear ) and all the lights were controlled by 1 time switch somewhere in the village and these lights turn off about 11PM at night .

In the 90s this was replaced with a new 5M metal post with a side entry WRTL ( DAVIS ) GR70 lantern ( 70W SON-T bulb , Nema socket photocell ) . See the next photo to see the new light.

 

 

 

 

 


 

 

 This is along THE ESPLANADE  and this was taken in Year Aug 1991.

Along this road  the street lights are on telegraph posts and on this telegraph post is a side entry GEC Z8691 ( 80W MBF bulb , integral gear) and the rest of the lanterns were Top entry GEC Z8243 ( TWO FORTY ) lantern ( 2 2ft 40W Fluorescent tubes ) .

These lanterns is not here any more and in 1977 ,they were replaced with a side entry THORN BETA 79 lanterns ( 70W SON-E bulb , integral gear ) and all the lights were controlled by 1 time switch somewhere in the village and these lights turn off about 11PM at night .  Some time between 1991 - 2002 these street lights were replaced with new 5 M heritage metal posts with post top heritage CU PHOSCO P111 lanterns ( integral gear , 70W SON-E bulb , High Beam glass refractor and a miniature 1 part photocell ) . The miniature 1 part photocells are fitted on the bottom of the lanterns .

Along this road  the street lights are on telegraph posts and on this telegraph post is a side entry THORN BETA 79 lanterns ( 70W SON-E bulb , integral gear ) . This lantern was installed in 1977 and the lantern before this was a GEC Z5590 lantern ( GLS bulb , less gear) .

In the 90s this was changed to a new 5 M heritage metal post with post top heritage CU PHOSCO P111 lantern ( integral gear , 70W SON-E bulb , High Beam glass refractor and a miniature 1 part photocell ) . The miniature 1 part photocell is fitted on the bottom of the lantern .

There is another street light on a telegraph post further up this road and it got a side entry THORN BETA 79 lantern ( 70W SON-E bulb , integral gear ) . This lantern was installed in 1977 and the lantern before this was a side entry GEC Z8260 ( 2 2ft 40W Fluorescent tubes ) .

In the 90s this was changed to a URBIS ZX1 lantern ( integral gear , flat glass, white tops , 70W SON-T Bulb , NEMA socket black blanking photocell ) .

This was a GEC Z8691 lantern on this telegraph post and has been changed to a URBIS ZX1 lantern ( integral gear , refractor bowl , white tops , 70W SON-T Bulb , NEMA socket blanking photocell ) . Blanking photocells they just link out the NEMA sockets and in these photocells is just some wire links and these photocells are black in colour . The new plastic box which is on the post , its looks like a GEWISS GW44216 and the size of it is 160MM high -- 119MM wide -- 147MM depth .

Along North Morte Road all the lights are controlled from one photocell or time switch .
