MAIDENHEAD,BERKSHIRE,ENGLAND.

Most of the GROUP A ( main roads ) lights were THORN ALPHA 3 lanterns ( less gear , semi-cut off bowls , SON BULBS , 2 part RTE P42 photocells ) , THORN ALPHA 3 lanterns ( integral gear , semi-cut off bowls , SON BULBS , NEMA socket photocells ) , GEC Z9554 ( metal type , 135W SOX bulbs , less gear , 2 part RTE P42 photocells ) , GEC (SIEMENS) Z9554M (WTRL MRL 135 ) lanterns ( plastic type , 135W SOX bulbs , less gear , 2 part RTE P42 photocells ) , THORN ALPHA 9 lanterns ( less gear , 90W SOX bulbs , 2 part RTE P42 photocells ) , GEC lanterns , Fluorescent lanterns and some other type of lanterns .

Some of the posts are 8M , 10M ,12M octagonal tapered metal posts , metal posts and concrete posts .

Most of the GROUP B ( side roads ) lanterns were side entry GEC Z8243 ( TWO FORTY ) lanterns ( 2 2ft 40W Fluorescent tubes , timeswitches ) , side entry GEC Z8256 lanterns ( 2ft Fluorescent tubes , timeswitches ) , top entry GEC Z5591 lanterns ( MBF Mercury bulbs , timeswitches , plastic bowls , glass refractors ) , top entry GEC Z5580/1/2B lanterns ( MBF Mercury bulbs , timeswitches , refractor bowls ) , side entry THORN BETA 6 lanterns ( 2ft Fluorescent tubes , timeswitches ) , some UNKNOWN top entry lanterns ( GLS Tungsten bulbs , timeswitches ) , THORN BETA 7 lanterns ( MBF Mercury bulbs , less gear , timeswitches ) , some other type of lanterns and top entry THORN BETA 4 lanterns ( MBF Mercury bulbs , less gear , timeswitches ) on 5M Concrete posts ( CU PHOSCO ( CONCRETE UTILITIES ) , STANTON AND STAVELEY ) .

With the 5M post top STREET LIGHTS , most of the lanterns were post top GEC ZD10598 lanterns ( MBF Mercury bulbs , timeswitches ) ( these look like GEC Z5674 but the top and the bowl is different on these lanterns ) , post top GEC Z8451 lanterns ( 2ft Fluorescent tubes , timeswitches ) , GEC Z5674 ( MBF Mercury bulbs , timeswitches ) , GEC Z5678 lanterns ( MBF Mercury bulbs , timeswitches ) and THORN GAMMA 6 lanterns ( less gear , integral gear ) , THORN GAMMA 6 lanterns ( integral gear , with a big base on the bottom of the lantern , 35W SOX BULBS ) and these were mostly on Metal Octagonal tapered posts ( GEC ) and some other types of metal posts .

The council started using the side entry THORN ALPHA 8 lanterns ( all metal type lantern , SON-E bulbs , 2 part RTE P42 photocells ) on the new type of BRITISH STEEL metal posts .

The council started using the side entry THORN BETA 5 lanterns ( 35W SOX bulbs , integral gear , NEMA socket photocells ) , top entry THORN BETA 5 lanterns ( 35W SOX bulbs , integral gear , NEMA socket photocells ) ,

The council started using the PHILIPS MA90 lanterns ( 90W SOX bulbs , less gear , 2 part RTE P42 photocells ) , PHILIPS MA50 lanterns ( 135W SOX bulbs , less gear , 2 part RTE P42 photocells ) .

Some of the town centre has got new street lights. The new posts are BRITISH STEEL metal posts ( 5 - 8M ) , side entry THORN ALPHA 8 lanterns ( new type plastic lantern , SONT bulbs , integral gear , 2 part RTE P42 photocells ) , post top THORN GAMMA 6 lanterns ( SONE BULBS ,integral gear , 2 part RTE P42 photocells ) .

The roads COOKHAM ROAD ( B4447 ) and LOWER COOKHAM ROAD ( A4904 ) all the old 5M concrete posts with the side entry GEC lanterns ( 2ft Fluorescent tubes , timeswitches ) were replaced with 8M BRITISH STEEL metal posts with side entry PHILIPS MA90 lanterns ( 90W SOX bulbs , less gear , 2 part RTE P42 photocells ) .

The council started using the side entry GEC Z9532M lanterns ( integral gear , plastic type , 35W SOX bulbs , 2 part RTE P42 photocells ) .

Part of the HIGH STREET has been redone and the council have put in new lighting along the new bit of the HIGH STREET. The new lanterns are HOLOPHANE WALLPACKETTE lanterns ( SON-T bulbs , integral gear ) and the old lanterns were THORN PRECINCT lanterns ( 80W MBF Mercury bulbs , integral gear ) . In the late 90s the HIGH STREET has been redone again and all the lights have been replaced with URBIS RADIAL 2 Flood Lights ( SON-T bulb , miniature photocell , integral gear ) .

The council started using the THORN BETA 79 lanterns ( integral gear , plastic type , SON-T bulbs , 2 part RTE P42 photocells ) .

In this year the council has changed its paint colour from light blue to blue colour paint for the lamp posts .

Most of the lanterns along the A4 has been changed to PHILIPS SGS 203 lanterns ( SON-T bulbs , integral gear , 2 part RTE P42 photocells ) and the old lanterns were THORN ALPHA 3 lanterns ( less gear , semi-cut off bowls , SON BULBS , 2 part RTE P42 photocells ) . Most of the roundabout lights along the A4 were changed in 1993 and the new lanterns are PHILIPS SGS 204 lanterns ( flat glass , SON-T BULBS , integral gear , 2 part RTE P42 photocells ) and these posts were painted with the new colour paint .

A lot of old 5M STANTON AND STAVELEY concrete posts with swan neck brackets were replaced with new metal brackets with side entry THORN BETA 5 lanterns ( new type , 35W SOX bulbs , integral gear , 2 part RTE P42 photocells ) . The old lanterns were GEC Z5591 lanterns ( 80W MBF Mercury bulbs , less gear) .

The council started using the URBIS ZX1 lanterns ( integral gear , refractor bowls , SONT bulbs , NEMA socket photocells ) .

In this year the council has stopped using the 2 part photocells on the new lanterns and they have now changed to NEMA socket photocells .

Along BOULTERS LOCK area ( RAY MEAD ROAD - A4094 ) all the old streetlights were replaced with new 6M DW WINDSOR HERITAGE metal posts with post top DW WINDSOR STRAND lanterns ( teardrop bowls , Diamond Optics , SON-T bulbs , miniature photocells ).

The rest of the lanterns along the A4 were changed to PHILIPS SGS 203 lanterns ( SON-T bulbs , integral gear , NEMA socket photocells ) .

The council started using the URBIS SAPPHIRE 2 lanterns ( SON-T bulbs, integral gear , NEMA socket photocells )

A new bypass ( A308 ) was built next to the RAILWAY STATION with new shops and the new posts and lanterns are 10M URBIS metal posts with URBIS SATURN lanterns ( SON-T bulbs , miniature PHOTOCELLS , integral gear ) .

One part of KING STREET all the old 8M metal posts with THORN ALPHA 3 lanterns ( less gear , semi-cut off bowls , SON-T bulbs , 2 part RTE P42 photocells ) were replaced with new 8M URBIS HERITAGE CASTLENAU metal posts with double arm PLAIN brackets with top entry URBIS ALBANY lanterns ( teardrop bowls , SON-T bulbs , miniature photocells , integral gear ) .

The council started using the THORN RIVIERA 1 lanterns ( SON-T bulbs, integral gear , NEMA socket photocells ) and the PHILIPS MI 26 lanterns ( 35W SOX bulbs , integral gear , NEMA socket photocells ) .

In this year the council has changed its paint colour from blue to black - blue colour paint for the lamp posts and they have started painting the lamp posts in MAIDENHEAD .

The council started using the PHILIPS IRIDIUM lanterns ( SON-T bulbs , integral gear , NEMA socket photocells ) and PHILIPS SGS 201 lanterns ( SON-T bulbs , integral gear , NEMA socket photocells ) .

All the old 10M metal posts with THORN ALPHA 3 lanterns were replaced with new heritage 8M DW WINDSOR AMAX posts with DW WINDSOR HOOP TRADITIONAL brackets and with top entry DW WINDSOR STRAND lanterns ( SON-T bulb , integral gear , Diamond Optic reflector , teardrop bowls , miniature 1 part photocell ) along one part of the HIGH STREET.

The other part of KING STREET all the old 8M metal posts with THORN ALPHA 3 lanterns ( less gear , semi-cut off bowls , SON-T bulbs , 2 part RTE P42 photocells ) were replaced with new 8M URBIS HERITAGE CASTLENAU metal posts with double arm PLAIN brackets with top entry URBIS ALBANY lanterns ( teardrop bowls , SON-T bulbs , miniature photocells , integral gear ) .

The council has started using DW WINDSOR MONARO lanterns .CosmoWhite CPO-TW bulbs .

This is along NICHOLSONS LANE and this was taken in Year July 2002 .

There is 2 left of these side entry GEC Z8256 lanterns ( 2 ft Fluorescent tubes ) left in MAIDENHEAD and these are wall mounted at 5M and they are along NICHOLSONS LANE in the town centre. These 2 lanterns are still here in JAN 2004 and these two are not working .

2009 - These 2 lanterns are not here anymore .

This is along BRIDGE ROAD ( A4 ) and this was taken in Year May 2001 .

These 10M octagonal tapered metal posts were installed in the early 70s and they had THORN ALPHA 3 lanterns ( less gear , semi-cut off bowls , SON-T bulbs , 2 part RTE P42 photocells ) . 1991-1992 all the lanterns were changed to PHILIPS SGS 203 lanterns ( SON-T bulbs , integral gear , 2 part RTE P42 photocells ) and the posts were repainted with the new colour of dark blue .

Year 2007 - Some of these lamp posts got changed to 10M CORUS posts with side entry PHILIPS IRIDIUM lanterns ( SON-T bulbs , integral gear , NEMA socket photocells , flat glass ) . The new posts and the new lanterns were were painted with dark blue paint .

This is along BLACKAMORE LANE and this was taken in Year May 2003 .

The old 5M GEC octagonal tapered metal posts with GEC ZD10598 lanterns ( MBF Mercury bulbs , less gear , 2 part RTE P42 photocells ) and THORN GAMMA 6 lanterns ( MBF Mercury bulbs , less gear , 2 part RTE P42 photocells ) .

The new posts are 6M CORUS ( BRISTISH STEEL ) metal posts with post top PHILIPS IRIDIUM lanterns ( SON-T bulbs , integral gear , NEMA socket photocells ) and these new lanterns were painted with dark blue paint . All the old lights have gone now ( JAN 2004 ) .

This is along MOORBRIDGE ROAD and this was taken in Year June 2002 .

8M CU PHOSCO ( CONCRETE UTILITIES ) Avenue 2D concrete post with a Arc 2D bracket with a side entry PHILIPS SGS 203 lantern (SON-T bulb , integral gear , 2 part RTE P42 photocell ) .The old lantern on this post was a side entry GEC Z8432 ( VIATRON ) lantern ( MBF Mercury bulb , less gear , timeswitch ) and there is a photo of it in this photo.

In the 90s this GEC Z8432 ( VIATRON ) lantern has got changed to a PHILIPS SGS 203 lantern .

The 8M CU PHOSCO ( CONCRETE UTILITIES ) concrete post which is further a long this road has got a GEC (SIEMENS) Z9554M (WTRL MRL 135 ) lantern ( plastic type , 135W SOX bulb , less gear , 2 part RTE P42 photocell ) .

Year 2008 - These lamp posts and lanterns got replaced with new ones . The new posts are 8M DW WINDSOR AMAX posts with DW WINDSOR HOOP TRADITIONAL brackets and with top entry D.W.WINDSOR STRAND lanterns ( SON-T bulb , integral gear , Diamond Optic reflector , teardrop bowls , miniature 1 part photocell ) .

This is along MAIDENHEAD COURT PARK and this was taken in Year June 2002 .

5M GEC octagonal tapered metal posts with post top PHILIPS FGS105 lanterns ( PL-L4P 55W modern type Fluorescent tube , integral gear , NEMA socket photocells ) and these PHILIPS lanterns were installed in 2001 . This road that I know of which has got only these PHILIPS FGS105 lanterns and these are not anywhere else in MAIDENHEAD .The old lanterns were post top GEC ZD10598 lanterns ( MBF Mercury bulbs , less gear , 2 part RTE P42 photocells ) and THORN GAMMA 6 lanterns ( MBF Mercury bulbs , less gear , 2 part RTE P42 photocells ) . These posts has got the old light colour blue paint on them .

When these DW WINDSOR AMAX posts were installed in 2008 ,the lanterns were side entry PHILIPS IRIDIUM lanterns ( CosmoWhite CPO-TW bulbs , integral gear , NEMA socket photocells ) .

In 2009 ,these brackets and lanterns were changed to DW WINDSOR HOOP TRADITIONAL brackets and with top entry D.W.WINDSOR STRAND lanterns ( CosmoWhite CPO-TW bulbs , integral gear , Diamond Optic reflector , teardrop bowls , miniature 1 part photocell ) and the posts were painted black .

The old posts before these were BRITISH STEEL 8M metal posts with side entry THORN ALPHA 8 lanterns ( new type plastic lantern , SON-T bulbs , integral gear , 2 part RTE P42 photocells ) and these were installed in 1986-7 .

The old posts before these were 5M GEC octagonal tapered metal posts with post top GEC ZD10598 lanterns ( MBF Mercury bulbs , less gear , 2 part RTE P42 photocells ) .
